Antonio Byrd on Care and Writing Assessment
The Program in Writing and Rhetoric and the Program for Writing Across Campus are delighted to share that we're inviting Dr. Antonio Byrd from the University of Missouri-Kansas City to do a workshop for us early in spring quarter on the topic of Black feminist models of care in writing programs/assessment.
In this workshop, Antonio will give an autoethnographic account of his adopting a Black feminist care approach to self-assessment and then facilitate small group activities on how self-assessment fits within the labors of writing instructors. By the end of the workshop, Antonio hopes writing instructors will have new strategies for delivering care to themselves and will discover new ways to assess student learning.
