We're hiring a video production intern!
Writing@UW, a program that supports writing instructors and students at the University of Washington Seattle, is seeking a creative and motivated intern to shoot informal video interviews for student audiences. These videos will be featured on the Writing Pathways web pages, which provide comprehensive information about writing resources and courses at UW. You will work closely with the Director of Writing, the Writing@UW R.A., and other stakeholders to develop targeted and engaging interview questions, craft compelling and authentic video narratives that resonate with a student audience, and hone your technical skills in video production, including camera operation, sound, lighting, and post-production editing.

Job Title: Video Production Intern
Department: Writing@UW
Location: In person, on UW Seattle campus
Hours: 10-15 hours per week during Winter Quarter, with the option to begin sooner. Work hours are flexible, with specific deadlines TBD.
Timeline: This intern will produce five short videos during Winter Quarter 2025 (with the option to start sooner).
Stipend: This internship pays $21 / hour
Responsibilities:
- Produce, edit, and finalize five short-form videos (approx. 2-3 mins each) featuring testimonials from students in writing courses
- Collaborate with Writing@UW stakeholders to conduct video interviews
- Assist in organizing and scheduling student interviews
- Ensure smooth production timelines Incorporate feedback from the Director of Writing and other stakeholders into video revisions
- Deliver final content optimized for the Writing@UW website
Desired Skills/Qualifications/Characteristics:
- Proficiency with video production tools (e.g., video cameras, mics, tripods, etc.)
- Proficiency in video production software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with UW’s student culture (experience in at least one composition (“C”) course, e.g., ENGL 131 is encouraged, but not necessary)
- Confidence to ask questions, seek feedback, and work collaboratively
