  • New Writing Studios Now Open for Fall!

    The English 115 Writing Studios are expanding and several new sections are now open this fall! ENGL 115 supports multilingual students who are  enrolled in a composition (“C”) course at the same time. English 115 builds reading skills so that you can analyze complex texts, and provides lots of one-on-one support as you work on different kinds of writing. Credit/no-credit only.   • UW Instructor Publishes NY Times Article on the Teaching of Writing

    Megan Butler, an instructor in the Program in Writing and Rhetoric (English), has published "‘Translating’ a Times Article to Reach New Audiencs". This is wonderful for Megan and we are delighted to share her accomplishment here. In addition, we are sharing this because it is an excellent and useful description of one way that a reading and writing project can be carefully scaffolded to support students. It also describes a way of teaching about genre and audience that may be useful for those who are teaching writing across disciplines.
